Vacant house catches fire

NEW CASTLE — New Castle firefighters responded to a blaze Thursday night on Arlington Avenue.

The call about 6:30 p.m. was for a vacant house at 757 Arlington. It was spotted by someone who lived in the neighborhood.

Firefighters, who were already out on a medical call on the South Side, responded within minutes. The first responders spotted flames in the rear of the house.

The blaze was reported under control around 7 p.m.

No other information was available at press time.
