Winds didn’t cause outages

NEW CASTLE — Lawrence County experienced no significant electrical disruptions becausea of the high winds that swept through the area Thursday morning.

A Penn Power spokesman said only one outage was reported in the county. He did not have a location.

However, approximately 40 customers in Pulaski Township lost electrical service Wednesday prior to the windy conditions.

The spokesman said a tree had fallen onto a line, breaking a pole and causing the outage around 5 p.m. in the New Bedford-Sharon Road area. Power was restored by 7 p.m., he said.

A letter writer to The News has suggested there’s plenty to be negative about when it comes to the city of New Castle. In general, are you negative or hopeful about our city?

I’m negative. Nepotism, corruption, and incompetence have ruled for years. Nothing has changed.
I’m hopeful. I view the county as a whole, so there’s a lot to be positive about.
Mixed. I think we’re like any other area. You have to take the bad with the good.
