Residents warned: Lock your cars

NEW CASTLE — Union Township police are reminding people to lock their vehicles and leave nothing of value inside of them.

Police said someone reportedly broke into a  house on Grandview Avenue between 2 and 5 a.m. on Thursday.

Officers said the house appeared to have been searched, but it is unknown if anything was taken. An unlocked vehicle at the house was also entered.

Police said they followed footprints to Ridge Avenue, where the suspected intruder appeared to have gotten into a waiting vehicle.

They ask if anyone saw anything to contact the Union Township police  at (724) 656-9300.

The Lawrence County commissioners have decided to solicit proposals for the private operation of the county jail. Good idea?

No. I think there would be too many questions of liability for the county.
Not sure. The county seems to be doing a good job of running the jail now. Why break it if it’s not broken?
