Woman injured in crash

NEW CASTLE — A New Castle woman was reported injured in a two-vehicle crash yesterday in Union Township.

Union Township police said Monica M. Querriera, 23, was transported to Jameson Hospital with a possible leg injury.

No hospital information was available.

Police said Querriera was eastbound on Route 224 west of Interstate 376 around 10 a.m. and lost control of her car because of slippery road conditions. James E. Hitch, 43, of North Carolina, driving a sport utility vehicle westbound, was struck by Querriera’s car. Hitch’s vehicle then struck a utility pole.

Police said Hitch refused treatment at the scene.

Route 224 was closed for approximately a half hour while crews cleared the scene.
