Man charged in domestic dispute

NEW CASTLE — A South Side man is facing charges for allegedly assaulting a woman and having a knife during a domestic disturbance.

Police said they received a report that David Kordish Jr., 21, of 416 Electric St. was intoxicated and trying to enter a house in the 500 block of Lyndal Street around 6 p.m. Sunday.

A woman told them Kordish had grabbed her by her neck, threw her against a wall and threatened to kill her. She said he then went to the Lyndal Street house.

Police said numerous Christmas decorations had been ripped down from the front porch of the Lyndal Street house and lights had been cut down with a knife.

Upon arresting Kordish, officers found a spring-loaded switchblade in Kordish’s pants pocket.

Kordish is charged with carrying a prohibited offensive weapon, simple assault and harassment and criminal mischief.
