NEW CASTLE —
A Hickory Township man accused of robbing a bank in Hickory Township on Monday has been caught.
State police arrested Norman Clifford Lowe, 57, of Eastbrook Apartments today after searching his living quarters with a warrant last night.
He is accused of entering the First National Bank branch at 2353 Harlansburg Road at 11:24 a.m. Monday and approaching a teller with a small rectangular device he put on the counter, claiming it was an explosive.
Police later determined the suspected bomb was fake.
Lowe was identified by neighbors, who had viewed surveillance photos of him and had seen him earlier in the day of the bank hold-up.
Lowe is charged with two separate counts of robbery and one count each of fascimile weapons of mass destruction, terroristic threats, theft, receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct.
Lowe is being held on $100,000 bond in the Lawrence County jail. His preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Aug. 22 in Central Court.
