Man dies in lawn-mowing accident

NEW CASTLE — A man cutting grass was killed early Friday evening when his mower rolled over on him in Neshannock Township.

According to Richard Johnson, Lawrence County deputy coroner, the 33-year-old was operating a commercial zero-turn mower when the mishap happened around 6 p.m. on private property on Banberry Lane.

At press time Friday night, Johnson said he was unable to release the victim’s name, pending notification of relatives. Johnson said the man’s parents live out of town. The man died at the scene, Johnson said. He was pronounced dead at 6:45 p.m.

Johnson said an autopsy was planned, but noted there was nothing suspicious about the death, adding he anticipates the official cause would be injuries from the accident.
