NEW CASTLE —
City police have charged a woman who allegedly attempted to run people over in Jameson Hospital’s parking lot.
Darece Nicole Murphy, 28, of 409 Denver Ave. is charged with aggravated and simple assault, harassment, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
She was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Scott McGrath and placed in the Lawrence County jail on $10,000 bond.
According to court documents, New Castle police were called to the Jameson Hospital parking lot at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, following reports someone had struck several people in the lot, then drove off. Officers said two people had been hit.
Witnesses said Murphy, in a silver vehicle, drove up to the ambulance entrance. She got out of the car and shouted at people standing there, police were told, then backed out at high speed, striking one woman, driving over a curb toward a group of people and striking a second woman before driving off.
Police reports indicate this may be a continuation of a fight outside the Capitol Grill at 108 N. Mercer St.
Officers were called to the bar at 1 a.m. Sunday regarding a fight and shots fired. Officers said they dispersed about 60 people in the street, and recovered two knives and two .40-caliber shell casings.
Police said three women were taken to Jameson with stab wounds.
