Woman reports East Side robbery

NEW CASTLE — Police are seeking information about a man who robbed a 60-year-old woman on the city’s East Side.

The woman told New Castle police she had been knocked to the ground around 11 p.m. Tuesday in an alley behind her home in the 700 block of Cunningham Avenue. She told officers the man stole her debit card, held a knife to her throat and demanded her account’s personal identification number, telling her he would rape her if she did not give it to him.

The woman said she had contacted the bank to have her account frozen, but the man already had withdrawn all the money.

The woman told police she had been walking back to her house from a pharmacy on East Washington Street when the attack occurred. She said the man grabbed her purse that had her identification card, cell phone, debit card and $200.

Anyone who has information about the incident should contact the city police at (724) 656-3576.
