Motorcyclist injured in Neshannock collision

NEW CASTLE — A motorcyclist was hospitalized following a collision with car on Wilmington Road in Neshannock Township.

John R. Manos, 57, of 16 Buena Vista Way, was taken by ambulance to Jameson Hospital and was admitted.

Neshannock police said Melissa Fuleno Johnson, 43, of 127 Neshannock Trails Drive was southbound on the highway around 3 p.m. Thursday near the New Englander, and Manos was on a motorcycle behind her.

As Johnson slowed for traffic, police said, Manos swerved to avoid hitting her from behind but struck the left rear corner of her car and was thrown from the bike, landing in the northbound lane.

According to police, Manos sustained serious injuries.

Information about his condition was unavailable.

No other injuries were reported.

Police said Johnson drove away from the scene after changing a tire, and that charges are pending against Manos.

The Neshannock Township fire department assisted police at the scene.
