NEW CASTLE —
A New Wilmington man had been charged with corruption of minors.
Borough police reported that four counts of corruption of minors against Ethan G. Kaufman, 20, of 35 Mill Road stem from a relationship he had with a 14-year-old girl in 2010. Kaufman was 18 at the time, police said.
According to officers, during an interview in August 2011, the female said their relationship began to include consensual sex during the summer of 2010.
Police said Kaufman would pick her up at her house at night, take her to his home, then take her back to her home during the early morning hours.
The defendant voluntarily appeared at the New Wilmington police department with his attorney in March and provided a statement regarding his relationship with the girl, saying he was aware she was 14 when he met her and 15 when the relationship ended, police said.
He also admitted the girl had provided him with the drug Adderall on at least two occasions, police said.
A summons has been issued by District Judge Scott A. McGrath.
