NEW CASTLE —
A New Castle man is wanted by police for allegedly robbing a visually impaired man at Skyview Towers.
New Castle police have charged Anthony L. Johnson, 42, of 134 N. Mercer St., in connection with the incident. A warrant was issued Wednesday for his arrest.
Police said the victim was not able to describe his attacker because of his visual impairment.
The man told the officers that Johnson had agreed to buy beer for him from a downtown tavern around midnight on Aug. 16. He said Johnson went back to his sixth-floor apartment two hours later and pushed him to the ground and stole $140 from his pants pocket and ran.
The victim complained of hip pain but refused medical treatment, police said.
The officers identified Johnson by watching a Lawrence County Housing Authority surveillance video of the incident. They have charged him with robbery, theft, receiving stolen property and harassment.
