High School Basketball: Berkley lands new coaching job

NEW CASTLE — Darren Berkley’s coaching prowess has landed him a head coaching position at King George High School in Virginia.

The New Castle native will lead the Foxes varsity boys basketball program. Berkley brings with him an impressive resume which includes 13 years leading the basketball squad at Fredericksburg Christian School. During his time there, the Eagles captured five Delaney Athletic Conference championships and reached the state championship four times. Fredericksburg Christian finished with a 21-10 record last season.

Berkley made his local claim to fame when he helped lead the Union basketball team to an undefeated 24-0 record in 1989. He averaged 19.3 points per game as the Scotties finished as WPIAL runners-up. He scored 579 of his 937 career points as a senior. Berkley finished as Union’s all-time leader in consecutive free throws made and 3-pointers made. He also earned first-team all-section honors and was part of the Class A-AA all-star team.

A graduate of Houghton College in New York, Berkley is fifth on the Highlanders’ all-time scoring list and a 2012 inductee of the Lawrence County Historical Society Sports Hall of Fame.

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted to authorize Speaker John Boehner to sue President Obama for allegedly overstepping his legal authority with the way he's handled Obamacare. Good call?

Yes. Obama's been overstepping his authority since day one in office. It's time he pay the piper.
No. The allegations are ridiculous and the law suit is a waste of time and tax payer money.
I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of Obama, but the suit seems a little extreme.
