Decision 2012: Gibbons re-elected to fourth term

NEW CASTLE — State Rep. Jaret Gibbons won re-election to a fourth term Tuesday.

The Democratic legislator defeated his Republican challenger, Michael See, by more than 1,400 votes.

It was the second win in a row for Gibbons over See. Two years ago, Gibbons won by less than 900 votes.

Gibbons received 13,501 votes and See had 12,066 votes.

Gibbons, 32, defeated See in the Lawrence County and Butler County portions of the 10th District. He won Lawrence County by nearly 2,000 votes and squeaked by in Butler by 39 votes. However, See carried the Beaver County portion by nearly 600 votes.

“Just very excited,” was Gibbons’ reaction Tuesday night.

“This was a tough fought race.”

He said his opponent ran a negative campaign and “a lot of money spent from the other side.”

“I felt I was able to push out the positive things I’ve done for the district.”

A Franklin Township resident, Gibbons added he is looking forward to continue what he has been doing — working on revitalization of communities and “growing jobs.”

An attempt to reach See Tuesday night was unsuccessful.
