Sexual assault charges filed
A former Laurel teacher, who lost his job after inappropriate conduct with a child in the 1990s, faces new charges.
Randy Allen Lambright, 47, of 332 Maple Lane, Pulaski, is accused of multiple felonies and misdemeanors related to allegations of sexual assault against a girl who was 7 when the crimes allegedly began.
The case spans Lawrence and Beaver counties and includes alleged incidents that go back to 1999.
Among the charges filed in Lawrence County by state police were four counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a juvenile, two counts of indecent assault against a juvenile and one count each of endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of minors, simple assault and criminal attempt to commit indecent assault.
Lambright was arraigned before District Judge Scott McGrath.
Additional charges were filed in the Beaver County office of District Judge Tim Finn, including rape involving a victim under the age of 13, two counts each of indecent assault on a victim under the age of 13 and endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of obscene and other sexual materials and performances and one count of corruption of minors.
Lambright was a teacher and assistant football coach in the Laurel School District. His teaching certificate was revoked by the Pennsylvania Department of Education in 1994 after he had pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child.
That charge involved a case lodged against Lambright in 1992, where he also was accused of indecent assault and corruption of minors. Those two charges were dropped in a 1993 plea bargain, and court records show Lambright was sentenced to 12 months of probation and ordered to pay court costs.
According to court paperwork filed by the state police in the current case, Lambright originally was charged with indecent assault, endangering the welfare of a child and corruption of minors in October 2006 in Beaver County.
The 2006 charges were withdrawn, police said, after prosecutors had difficulty getting the victim to testify. Lambright agreed to participate in counseling as well as refrain from contact with the girl.
However, police said that in August 2008 — during an interview with a Lawrence County Children and Youth Services caseworker — the girl allegedly discussed “extensive additional assaults by Lambright.”
This information was turned over to police, who then filed the new charges.
According to court documents, the family moved from their Beaver County home to Lawrence County in summer 2004. Police noted the girl’s family had been living on Western Avenue in Brighton Township when the alleged assaults began in 1999 and claim they continued throughout the time the family lived there.
Police reported that after moving to Pulaski, Lambright assaulted the girl “on numerous occasions,” she said, and this “continued on a regular basis until the victim disclosed one incident of sexual abuse in June 2006.”
Incidents ranged from fondling to oral sex. The girl alleged Lambright approached her again in March 2008, but she removed his hand and left the room.
Lambright is now free on bond. He posted $20,000 in unsecured bail in connection with the Lawrence County charges, and another $10,000 in bail for those filed in Beaver County.
Preliminary hearings are scheduled for next week. The Beaver County case is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday at the county courthouse, while another hearing is to be held at Lawrence County Central Court at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
