Primary 2013: Former superintendent earns New Castle board nomination

NEW CASTLE — Voters nominated four candidates for four-year terms in each of Lawrence County’s eight school districts yesterday.

New Castle and Ellwood City had candidates running on one ballot only, but all others crossfiled, meaning they appeared on both Republican and Democratic ballots.

Region 1 of Blackhawk had only one candidate who crossfiled.

The candidates with the most votes on each ticket will appear on the November ballot.

Yesterday’s unofficial results for school board follow, with names of the nominees for the fall in bold face.

Because the Ellwood City and Wilmington school districts straddle two counties, the figures below include votes cast in Beaver County and Mercer County, respectively.
