Man charged with killing boy waives hearing, remains free

NEW CASTLE — A North Hill man charged with running over two boys, killing one, has waived the charges to court.

Virgil Eldon Coonfare, 67, of West Moody Avenue remains free on $25,000 bond.

However, he faces additional charges, mostly traffic violations, that were filed Thursday morning by New Castle police.

Coonfare is charged with homicide by vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance, aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and 19 other charges.

Police said Coonfare ran over and killed Octavius Stone, 7, of Winslow Avenue and Ozzy Velez, 9 of Volant as the boys played in the front yard of Ozzy’s grandmother on Nov. 25.

More details will be published in Friday’s edition of the New Castle News.

It’s been a unique week on the marriage front. Actress Jodie Foster married her longtime girlfriend, while a lesbian trio that wed last year, who bill themselves as a “throuple,” have announced they are expecting. What’s your take on alternative unions?

I’m against it. I believe in one man, one woman.
I’m OK with it. As long as they’re adults, they can marry whoever they want.
A lesbian “throuple?” Really? SMH.
