Board seeks inquiry into expense report matter

NEW CASTLE — The Lawrence County Board of Elections is turning over a campaign expense report matter to the district attorney.

The board, made up of the three county commissioners, voted Monday to have District Attorney Joshua Lamancusa investigate the Lawrence County Republican Committee’s failure to file an expense report in October 2012.

Candidates or campaign committees that fail to file reports on time are subject to a penalty of $20 per day for the first six days, $10 a day for every day thereafter, up to a total of $250.

Ed Allison, county election’s director, said the board’s aim is to have a report filed. He added that it will be up to the district attorney to determine whether the late filing fee should be paid.
