Shenango Township police responded yesterday to a disturbance at a motel room.
They left with confiscated drugs and weapons — and pending aggravated assault charges on a 16-year-old juvenile.
Officers Jason Domenick and Brian Magliocca were called yesterday afternoon to the Super 8 Motel on New Butler Road, where Martierius Rashad Brown, 19, and five juveniles were in the room.
Police observed marijuana and found numerous plastic baggies containing suspected ecstasy and crack cocaine. A loaded semiautomatic handgun also was confiscated.
All were taken to the Shenango Township police station. Four of the juveniles were released to family members, pending juvenile petitions being filed.
The fifth juvenile — a 16-year-old New Castle male — was placed in Keystone Juvenile Center in Greenville, pending weapons charges, violations under the state’s Controlled Substance, Drug Device and Cosmetic Act and aggravated assault charges. The latter charges stem from the juvenile attacking officer Darrin Cwynar during the interview at the police station. No injuries were reported.
Brown of 11 Moody Ave. was arraigned by District Judge David B. Rishel and is in the Lawrence County jail on a $25,000 bond. He is charged with two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver, nine felony counts of manufacture with intent to deliver, 11 counts of possession of a controlled substance, one misdemeanor count of possession of a small amount of marijuana, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia and six misdemeanor counts of corruptions of minors.
Police said the investigation continues and additional arrests are likely.
