NEW CASTLE —
General Motors is preparing to invest $4 million to build a Chevrolet dealership in Neshannock Township.
Clint Rounsfull said the project, announced in February, was put on hold “while General Motors worked through budgetary challenges.”
Rounsfull is a senior project manager of the Pittsburgh office of Jones Lang LaSalle, an international financial and professional services company specializing in real estate.
He said a groundbreaking is scheduled for early next year.
“We generally anticipate an eight- to nine-month building cycle,” he said. “If we break ground in the spring, the dealership should be opening for business by late next year.”
Rounsfull declined to say who specifically will be running the dealership, which is expected to include a 20,000-square-foot building, 233 display spaces and 76 parking spaces.
The business will be located on 6 1/2 landscaped acres at the northeast corner of Wilmington and Mitchell roads.
Rounsfull said he will be involved in the project, “but not on a day-to-day basis.
“General Motors is excited to be bringing a dealership to the New Castle area,” he said. “They’ve already purchased the land, they’ve already secured most of the permits they will need and the building is under design.”
He added that the car maker also loves the location near a major highway connection, across from Sheetz.
“This is a great location and we’ve studied the area. There are a lot of loyal customers in the area.”
A former Chevrolet dealership closed several years ago, he noted.
