Man-haters.com: Web site offers revenge for a woman scorned

Slash his tires. Burn his clothes. Stalk him. Hire a hit man to beat him up. Put rat poison in his oatmeal.

Sounds appealing to a woman scorned.

But you don’t want to land in the slammer, do you?

Well now instead of plotting revenge with your closest girlfriend, you can visit www.manhaters.com and tell thousands of people how he cheated on you with your best friend, dumped you after sex, didn’t give you a thing for Valentine’s Day, missed your birthday, and berated you for burning his steak.

“A lot of women who have been abused or cheated on, they are angry,” says Steffi Alexander, also known as Little Miss Manhater. She created the Web site in 2002 after a bad breakup. “They come to the site, they vent and complain. It prevents them from doing things that could be a lot worse.”

Manhaters.com has a free database that allows women to rate men they have dated in categories such as fidelity, verbal, emotional and physical abuse, hygiene and sexual performance. A comments section allows them to explain -- because, let’s face it, why would anyone visit this site if she didn’t need to vent?

So far, the database has 12,000 names, complete with birth date and hometown. Postings are anonymous, which seems a little unfair. But the men listed are free to post a rebuttal or pay $25 and have his name removed -- a common scenario, according to Alexander.

“I think this is going to make a difference,” says Alexander, a single woman in her 30s, who splits her time between New York and Scottsdale, Ariz. “It might improve men’s behavior. If they get caught, it may destroy potential future first dates. If it saves a handful of women from getting hurt by a man, it’s all worthwhile.”
