NEW CASTLE — How was your Thanksgiving?

Mine was great!

My mother put together quite the feast this year. She went all out, especially when it came to dessert. I wish I would've taken some photos as she baked a double layer pumpkin pie, a half dozen strawberry and cream cheese filled pastries and even a few chocolate lava cakes, filled with pudding and whipped cream. They were delicious.

It's hard to believe that soon it will be Christmas. Time sure does fly by. To think I have been writing this food blog for over a year now! I have learned so much about cooking. And now that I can do the things I wanted to a year ago, like cook a meatloaf or bake a brownie, I feel like the time has come to move on. (Not from blogging, just from food blogging.)

Starting on Dec. 5, I will be journeying into the world of film.

Who doesn't love movies?

 Movies can bring us together; they can start conversations; they can inspire change. I think Stephen King said it best on TCM's "Night at the Movies" when he said, "Art levels all walks of life." I couldn't agree more.

We've all watched a movie at one time or another and turned to the person beside us and said, "Did you see that?" I love movies, but even more so, I love talking about movies.

I'm very excited to share my longtime passion with you. I will be writing about the latest movie releases, the best classic films and the most-loved family favorites.

And, this change couldn't happen at a better time because 'tis the season! The month of December will be dedicated to, you guessed it, holiday flicks!

So on that note, did you know one of the first Christmas movies ever made was produced in 1898?

Well, I'll tell you all about it next week.
