NEW CASTLE —
I stood in line at the movie theater on Friday night, waiting to see "Oz the Great and Powerful" in 3-D.
It was the first time in a very long time that I actually had to wait in line to see a film. As I waited, the crowd and a life-sized poster of a wicked witch, her face slightly shadowed, added to my excitement leading up to the start of this movie.
Not surprisingly, the film brought in $80.3 million over the weekend!
Although I have read mixed reviews on "Oz the Great and Powerful," I must say that I was not at all disappointed. Even if the story could have been stronger, the film's visual grandeur made up for whatever may have been lacking otherwise. I highly recommend spending the extra bucks to see this movie in 3-D.
I'm not going to go into details with this post as I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven’t seen it, but I will say that James Franco did an excellent job portraying the wizard. I wasn't sure how he would fit into the role, but he was perfect.
Michelle Williams made for a fabulous Glinda and she looked gorgeous, but I feel like Mila Kunis stole the show (and rightfully so) as Theodora. Kunis has come a long way since playing Jackie on "That 70's Show."
Needless to say, this is one movie I will be purchasing on Blu-ray, and that's really saying something because I never buy anything on Blu-ray.
Have a happy Wednesday and go see "Oz the Great and Powerful!"
