NEW CASTLE —
At times, it is a challenge to stick to our diet.
The challenge becomes even greater on days when we are busy or just plain tired and not interested in spending any more time than necessary in the kitchen.
Just the other day, I stood in a small mini-mart for at least 10 minutes searching for anything to eat that wasn't coated in chocolate. Finally, I found a bag of unsalted almonds among a slew of honey-roasted, double-salted peanuts in the back of the store.
Sometimes, we need a healthy eating backup plan. Luckily, we can find pretty much anything on the Internet.
Thus, I present to you my latest Google search result, "4 Ways to Create Healthy Eating Back-up Plans" from Shape Magazine.
Article: http://www.shape.com/blogs/weight-loss-coach/4-healthy-eating-backup-plans?utm_source=nRelate&utm_medium=CPC
The article suggests an "emergency back-up kit" for on-the-run snacking. Suggestions for the kit include freeze-dried fruits and veggies and squeeze packets with all-natural nut butter. Nut butter? I never thought of that, but you can bet I'll be purchasing some packets soon.
So building on this week's topic, where would you most like to see healthier food options?
I would love to see mini-marts, obviously, offer more fresh fruits and vegetables. I also would love to see healthier movie theater snacks. A large popcorn without butter at the movies is around 900 calories and contains plenty of saturated fat!

If the movie theater offered healthier snack options, would you take advantage of them? I'd love to hear your answers. As always, you can email me at court959@yahoo.com.

I'm a terrible son. I’ll can freely admit my shortcomings. Well, maybe not as awful as some. I've never been in prison or killed anyone (though I may have thought about it). I’ve never been a drug addict or a drunk. I remember most of the holidays, birthdays and celebrations and I'm capable of supporting myself and my family.
