NEW CASTLE —
I am glad that McDonald's is now posting the number of calories in each of the food/drink items on its menu.
We should all be more aware of the number of calories we consume per day.
Did you know that a large Iced Mocha from the McCafe has 390 calories? Well, now you do. It's crazy to think that you would need to run almost four miles to burn off the calories in a drink.
Um yeah, I'll have a cup of water.
Don't get me wrong, it's totally OK to indulge every now and again. Just remember though, it takes two minutes to eat at Cinnabon, but it takes approximately 80 minutes of cycling to burn off the calories in that Cinnabon. How do I know this? Well, I read this article posted on ivillage.com, "What It Takes to Burn Off Your 30 Favorite Food Splurges," by Jessica Smith.
In the article are a few of my personal favorite splurges — a slice of birthday cake (that's 35 minutes of hiking uphill), a large slice of pepperoni pizza (70 minutes of shoveling snow?!?) and an ice cream sundae (40 minutes of good 'ol jogging right there).
They do say that weight loss is achieved mostly through diet.
Here's to making better choices everyday!
