NEW CASTLE — You know ...

I’ve never realized how many people are thinking about me today.

I’ve never realized how many people want what’s “best” for me.

I’ve never realized how much money is spent trying to reach me.

I’ve never realized the volume of information that’s aimed at me.

It’s pretty astounding, when you really think about it.

•Cable news shows have a vision for my politics.

•My supervisor and co-workers have a vision for my work ethic.

•The angry caller who doesn’t like my writing has a vision for my thoughts.

•Hugh Hefner has a vision for how I should view women.

•The parents in the stands have a vision for how I should coach their children.

•Fast-food restaurants have a vision for what I should eat for dinner.

•ESPN has a vision for how to distract myself for most of the day.

•The car dealership has a vision for what I should drive.

•The beer companies have a vision for what I should drink.

•My wife and kids have a vision for what a husband and father should look like.

•Carnival, Disney and Sandals have a vision for where I should vacation.

•The casino and race track have a vision for how I should spend my money.

•The leader of our church volunteer group has a vision for how I should spend my free time.

•Fear, worry, anxiety and anger have a vision for how I should look at my circumstances.

So does God.

Yep, God has a vision for my life, too.

I forget that sometimes.

OK, I forget that a lot of the time.

With so much cluttering our inbox each day, it’s easy to do.

I mean, the choices hurling toward us can be overwhelming.

So, which way do we turn? Who can we trust?

How will I know which road to take when there are so many directions to travel?

What is the wise thing to do today in such a complicated world?

Maybe the answer is simple.

Maybe I should just be still.

And ask Him.
