Gary Church: For my daughter's birthday, I'm on a quest for the holy...black canister set

NEW CASTLE —

While going through the list of things my daughter wanted for her birthday, I chose the black canister set.

The new car was a close second, but I felt led to get her the canisters instead.

Perhaps it would have been easier to find a car, than a black canister set.

Since I had a coupon, I tried Bed, Bath, and Beyond first.

They had one style of canisters, but they were all silver.

JCPenney, Kohl's, and TJ Maxx Home Store, had nothing.

Walmart had one, but it wasn't very pretty.

I was beginning to wonder if they made canister sets anymore.

Maybe nowadays they just leave the sugar in the bag, like we did back in the 50's?

We made one last stop at Kmart, and low and behold, they had one.

Since my knees were shot, my wife went in the store and purchased it for me.

When my daughter unwrapped them, I noticed they looked a little small.

I thought to myself, "If I were a seamstress, I could use those as thimbles."

'Miss Know It All' says, "They don't make large canister sets anymore."

I'm not sure when she discovered this.  She never brought it to my attention, until they were unwrapped at the party.

If you bought one of those little yellow boxes of Domino sugar, it might fit in the largest one.

It would take all four canisters if you wanted to empty a 5 pound bag of sugar.

If you wanted to empty a bag of flour, you would have to buy another canister set.

I realize styles are changing, but they should consult me first, so I can register my complaints why it won't work.

I still want to get my hands on the guy that invented the select a size paper towel.

He'll probably be called as the main witness, should I ever end up in divorce court.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 fell from the sky in Donetsk, Ukraine, on Thursday, killing all 298 people aboard. Many are speculating that Russian rebels (supported by Vladimir Putin) are responsible for downing the aircraft. What do you think?

Yes. All evidence points that way.
No. Everyone is so quick to point fingers, but there's not enough evidence to support claims of Russian guilt.
I'm not sure. I'll just wait until the investigation is over to make up my mind.
What is up with these Malaysian Airlines planes? I know one airline I won't be flying any time soon...
