NEW CASTLE —
So, I don't know much about veganism, but I came across the blog of Angela Liddon when I was searching the web for posts on running.
I completed my first 5k race on March 17 and will be competing in my next race on May 5, but that's besides the point.
Angela Liddon writes a vegan recipe blog called "Oh She Glows." I am very intrigued with the recipes published on her site, as well as with her personal story of battling an eating disorder and finally finding happiness with her body image. She is a very inspiring person.
Liddon's most recent blog post, "Inside My Vegan Pantry," is a detailed inventory of the ingredients found in the kitchen of a vegan. Complete with beautiful photos, Liddon even provides a printable list of what she keeps in stock at her home. If you're like me, and you don't know much about veganism, her post makes for a great introduction, even though I don't think that was the intent.
Read "Inside My Vegan Pantry" at http://ohsheglows.com/2012/04/09/my-vegan-pantry/.
Within the post, Liddon also mentions a recipe for Raw Buckwheat Porridge. Her photos of the porridge make me drool! I have to try this dish. Best of all, I think it will fit nicely into my morning routine as it can be prepared in only 10 minutes and can be made ahead of time.
The ingredients in the recipe include items that I have never worked with, including Buckwheat Groats and chia seeds, thus I am truly expanding my breakfast beyond my usual cereal, Egg Beaters, and um, instant oatmeal.
If you're interested in trying something new as well, get the porridge recipe at http://ohsheglows.com/recipage/?recipe_id=6002173.
And while you're at it, read more of Liddon's story.
Happy cooking, or in this case, non-cooking!

Gary Church: A REAL buffet for Father’s Day? Now that’s saying a mouthful!
My favorite thing about Mother’s Day is the buffet. I can do some real damage with a nice spread of food laid out before me. A good, homemade buffet can't be beat.

I'm a terrible son. I’ll can freely admit my shortcomings. Well, maybe not as awful as some. I've never been in prison or killed anyone (though I may have thought about it). I’ve never been a drug addict or a drunk. I remember most of the holidays, birthdays and celebrations and I'm capable of supporting myself and my family.
