One of the things I was most excited about for my honeymoon to Italy was seeing the street style of the locals.
European style is something I've always admired — it's always effortless and put together and, of course, dictates a lot of what we in the United States end up seeing.
I definitely wasn't disappointed while walking around the streets of Rome, Siena, Florence, Venice and Milan. Each city had its own unique style (just as we do here) and watching the transition between cities was fascinating.
Rome had a more urban, cool vibe at the beginning of our trip, while those in Milan had a more refined, classic style to end our trip with. Both my husband and I were very inspired by the styles of the Italians and so I thought I'd put together a post on how you can infuse some of these Italian traits into your everyday wear.
Let's start with the ladies. I'd like to call the Italian style Comfy Chic. The women in these cities walk A LOT, like being in New York. And because of that I saw a lot of flat shoes, easy fabric tops and cozy scarves. To get the look, simply pair a fun, graphic cotton tee with skinny jeans — an interesting shade like burgundy will earn you bonus points. Boots and a coat with edge add to the coolness factor and finishing the look with a cozy (but chic!) scarf will have you looking like you stepped from the pages of Italian Vogue.
The men of Italy are some of the finest dressed men I've ever seen. The taxi driver that took us from the train station to our hotel was dressed like an Italian model (and my husband immediately wanted to find out where his coat was from!). Seeing the style of these men was almost more interesting to me than the women because no matter if they were dining on pizza at a sidewalk cafe or riding their bike to work, they were dressed impeccably.
To get this look, first and foremost find a well-fitted blazer. Add a button-down shirt underneath a soft cashmere sweater, dark jeans, and a patterned scarf and you have one fine outfit. Finish the look with the perfect leather boots or shoes and your look is complete.
Both my husband and I took many style tips from the country and plan to incorporate just a little bit of Europe into our personal looks.
