Sarah Stright-Hartley: Some comfy, but stylish, looks for moms-to-be

NEW CASTLE — By now, you've no doubt heard the news — Duchess Catherine is pregnant with the royal baby!

As a longtime admirer of Princess Kate's style, I will be among the many studying her maternity fashions — taking notes for my future. But, of course, she isn't the only woman pregnant in the world and so I wanted to use this post to give those beautiful mothers-to-be a few outfit ideas.

Being pregnant, these women already have a couple accessories: a beautiful bump, and that amazing glow. The outfits to the right are designed to enhance those qualities, to show off that they're creating life and to prove that they are still just as stylish.

The first outfit is designed for the working mom-to-be. The outfit is still polished, but comfortable. The satin blouse with waist bow will keep you cool and the blazer adds the professional element. The pants are a skinnier leg version (still maternity) of the traditional dress pant. I've added in cute, but practical, kitten heels in nude (to elongate legs) and simple accessories.

The second outfit is a casual look for running errands. Comfortable maternity jeans, an easy sweater and cozy sweater are the base for the outfit.  But when you add in a fun, stylish coat, it takes the look up a notch. Pair the look with loafers and cool accessories — such as a skull bracelet — to give the outfit a cool girl feel.

The final look is for those nights when your husband wants to take you out and show you off. An easy dress paired with maternity tights keeps you dressy but comfy. Heeled loafers give the outfit a cool twist and when choosing outerwear, why not try a cape? They're as roomy as can be and are so on trend that they make you look instantly polished. Gold statement accessories like the chunky necklace and geometric clutch are perfect finishing touches.

What are your suggestions for comfortable and trendy maternity wear? What was your go-to look while pregnant?
