Sarah Stright-Hartley: Looking for stylish way to pack your possessions? It’s in the bag

NEW CASTLE — One of the most personal things a woman buys is a handbag. It holds all of her prized possessions.

So when shopping for a new bag, there are a lot of things to consider. Size, color, quality, fabric and length of use. Is she looking for something to use year round, or something that can be changed each season?

Is she looking for something to change daily with each look, or a classic bag that works with everything? To the right I've put together three categories of bags — the most common types that a woman would find on her daily hunt.

First is the classic bag. These are bags that women are often willing to spend a bit more money on. They may be considered a "splurge" but it is a classic shape and color that can be used day in and day out as well as with any outfit and season. I bought one of these bags while on my honeymoon in Italy. It was a splurge but the quality, shape and color ensure I'll be using it for years to come.

The nude color bag is one that very easily transitions from outfit to outfit. The quilted bag is often recognized as a Chanel bag, but many manufacturers have also been using this technique. And the brown leather tote is an easy classic that holds all of your belongings and can be used more casually.

The second type is the seasonally appropriate bag. In the spring/summer, these bags are often bright colors and in fall/winter are darker colors. For spring, these three bags are perfect. The striped bag gives a nautical feel and is large enough to hold beach gear. The mint bag is a perfect on trend color and the cross body strap makes it easy to wear while out and about. And the floral bag with the spring colors makes it perfect for the season.

The final type is the trendy bag. These bag styles tend to change with each season. I often choose to buy these types of bags at places like Forever 21, Old Navy or Kohl's to save money. Because the trends change so quickly, I don't want to pay a ton of money for a style that in a few months I may not like any more.

The top bag plays right into the clear/see-through trend. It makes finding all of your possessions a cinch but you'll have to be mindful of what you throw into the bag. The spiked bag follows along with the tough, masculine trend. It gives an edge to any outfit.

The final bag is in the current "It" shape. The drawstring bucket bag is extra popular right now and I love it in this green shade.

So, what type of bags do you look for when you shop? Are you a classic girl, seasonal girl, or trendy girl?

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed “unprecedented” legislation yesterday to expand gun rights in his state. Good idea?

Yes. Expanding the scope of where people can carry guns can help halt violent crimes and make those places safer.
No. Carrying guns into bars and schools is NEVER a good idea. I think it will lead to more violence.
Not sure, but I don’t plan to visit Georgia any time soon.
