NEW CASTLE —
Pantone is the world-renowned authority on color.
Each year the company dictates to designers, stylists and other fashion insiders which colors will be the most popular. As a result, collections are built around this idea, which then trickle down to the retail business and what we as consumers will purchase.
Each year, Pantone also announces a "Color of the Year." Last year it was Tangerine Tango, which resulted in an influx of orange-shaded pieces in every style of clothing and accessories.
For 2013, Emerald is the new "It" color. You'll be seeing this shade in everything from clothing to housewares. Luckily for us, this color not only brightens up any space and adds a richness to it, but it also flatters almost all skin tones.
The rich jewel tone is so flattering and makes for an excellent base piece. Or if you prefer, a subtle pop of color to an otherwise neutral look.
I've put together a few pieces to the right featuring men's, women's and interior pieces with the emerald touch, and also a couple of outfits for men and women using this shade. It's so easy to incorporate this color into your everyday wear, whether it be with a simple accessory like a great shoe, bag or watch, or wearing it in an all-over color, as in a dress.
What do you think? Will you be jumping on the emerald train?

Sarah Stright-Hartley: Looking for stylish way to pack your possessions? It’s in the bag
One of the most personal things a woman buys is a handbag. It holds all of her prized possessions. So when shopping for a new bag, there are a lot of things to consider. Size, color, quality, fabric and length of use. Is she looking for something to use year round, or something that can be changed each season?

Sarah Stright-Hartley: Want to add some zing for spring? Go ‘bloom’ yourself!
It's spring, it's spring! It finally feels like spring! Maybe I shouldn't say that too loudly, I don't want to scare it off. Anyway, one of the best parts of spring is seeing all of the pretty flowers popping up around the area.

Sarah Stright-Hartley: Don’t write off printed pants
One of the top trends for spring is the printed pant. In any print, in any color, this trend is definitely one that will make you stand out from the crowd. Floral patterns are the most common, but a strong graphic print in any pattern feels right on trend and fresh.

Sarah Stright-Hartley: I’ve learned what to wear from ‘What Not to Wear’
Contrary to popular belief, you CAN actually learn things from watching TV. “What Not to Wear” has been one of my favorite shows for years and Stacy and Clinton have taught me a lot. Now that the show is ending, I'm wondering who exactly I'll learn from next.

Sarah Stright-Hartley: Overalls are coming back — are you all in?
There's a trend that seems to be making the rounds that completely surprises me. In fact, I haven't thought about it since the 1980s — or maybe the early 90s. Overalls seem to be back — so far quietly, but I'm interested to see if the trend gains momentum.

On Monday I started a new job with a local company after almost two years of searching. This was cause for celebration for many reasons:

Sarah Stright-Hartley: Believe it or not, spring is here — so dress for it
It is slowly, slowly starting to warm up around here. But with the spring comes cool mornings and evenings and warm afternoons in-between. When I asked recently what people around me were having a hard time with, the answer was repeated over and over — how are we supposed to dress for these days?

Sarah Stright-Hartley: So, what’s in your bag?
One of the great things about being a woman is that you get to carry around bags filled with all of your favorite things to have whenever you may need them. One of the not-so-great things about being a woman is carrying around a bag filled with all of your favorite things — it gets heavy!
