NEW CASTLE —
Q: I'm pregnant and still want to look beautiful, but I'm feeling very large. What are some easy, comfortable, but stylish options for me?
A: You're in luck since pregnant women already give off the beautiful glow. But I can understand that you may not always FEEL beautiful. Most stores have become conscious of pregnant women wanting to feel stylish and now offer many new options that weren't previously available.
One of my favorite stores that I think has amazingly stylish maternity wear is Asos (www.asos.com). It’s a UK-based company but offers free shipping to the US (and also back to the UK if you need to return anything.).
I love that Asos has taken all of its regular styles and made them accessible to the fashion conscious pregnant women. A few of my other favorite stores that offer fantastic maternity wear are H&M, Old Navy, and Gap. Each of these stores has taken maternity wear up a notch and kept the clothing on trend and easy.
Check out the picture to the right for a few options of comfortable, easy, and stylish outfits.
Look one would be great for a night out with the girls. On trend waxed denim in a great fall color, paired with a black lace top and leopard print flats makes you look completely stylish but still lets you be comfortable.
Look two is a great look for running errands. A breezy top paired with leggings and comfortable riding boots is one of my favorite looks for daytime. (Note: Please make sure when wearing leggings, pregnant or not, that your top is long enough to cover your private areas.) Add in a colorful scarf, funky jewelry and carry a sleek tote for all your essentials.
Look three is perfect for a more formal event. The movement created by the dress, combined with the band over your bump is a fantastic combination. The v-neck cut of the top of the dress will also help to elongate you and will hopefully make you feel less "large.” Pile on the pretty jewels with a statement necklace, great bracelet and beautiful clutch. Finish it off with simple nude flats for ultimate comfort.
Q: I'm going to my 10-year high school reunion. What should I wear?
A: High school reunions have the strange ability to make us revert back to our high school selves — uncomfortable and wanting to fit in. But now that it's 10 years later, it's time to celebrate how far you've come — and your wardrobe should say the same. You should wear something that makes you feel your most beautiful.
Whether that means jeans and a nice blouse, or a beautiful dress, as long as you feel confident in it, you will look fantastic. If you look to the right, I've put together a couple options for easy, trendy, comfortable styles.
Look one is perfect for the girl who really wants to stand out. The red denim paired with a trendy peplum top in a bold print will definitely get you noticed. Because the outfit is so loud, keep your accessories minimal.
Look two is a pretty option for someone who may want to conceal a bit. The striped top will draw attention away from a lower half. And because the skirt portion of the dress is higher, it will give the illusion of a longer leg line, which will make you look taller and leaner. Pair the dress with an unexpected color like this soft blue for an extra bit of style.
Look three is a casual, but stylish option. The high-low skirt is very on trend, while the leather jacket is a great layering piece for fall. Plus, having the jacket over the bright tank will conceal any bits that you may not like so much. A nude shoe and gold and black jewelry are great completer pieces.
