Sarah Stright-Hartley: Think spring? Think jackets!

NEW CASTLE — I think spring is actually here now (Shhh! Don't say that too loudly and scare it away).

So with that comes nice warm days and much cooler nights.  And with THAT comes new spring jackets.  I may have mentioned this before, but I have a bit of an obsession with jackets (which, as my mom has recently pointed out to me, has now affected my son's wardrobe).

I believe that I need every type of spring jacket that is possible, and I won't let anyone tell me different! (Except my husband when he asks me why exactly I need another jacket.)

Anyway, to the right I've shown six of the most popular jackets for spring.

•Jean jacket — The classic, right?  Wear this with EVERYTHING from dresses to sweatshirts and shorts.  It's perfect for casual wear, or to make something that is a bit formal more casual.  I'm pretty sure that I've talked about jean jackets more than once in my posts — so I'll go ahead and move on — as long as you all promise to get one.

•Military jacket — A jacket trend that comes around every year, the military jacket. Sometimes they're a bit more structured, but this spring they're much more laid back. A bit slouchy and casual cool. This is another jacket that looks great when you throw it over dresses, as well as your standard casual looks.

•Blazer — Blazers are great for making your casual looks a bit dressier.  If you are going to a lunch date and want to look just a touch fancy, throw on a blazer. For spring, look for ones that are a bit lighter in color (and material), or have a fun pattern like florals or stripes.

•Trench coat — Oh, the age old "every woman needs this" coat.  Trench coats are such a classic.  But for spring you can always have a bit more fun with the style and color.  This spring check out a cropped trench for a fun new take on this classic.  Or if you're into the classics, maybe try a fun color like red!

•Bomber jacket — This trend comes around every few years and harkens back to the ’80s.  Bomber jackets, especially in a fun pattern like the one I've shown, are a great way to add a splash of fun and casualness to a look.  It's a very "cool girl" look and looks great with skinny jeans and heels.

•Leather jacket — This is another jacket that I always insist every woman needs in her closet.  For spring, try it in a fun shade, like pink or white.  They add edge to any look.  I even like them with formal dresses just to make your outfit unique.

What are your favorite jackets for spring?  Do you have a jacket obsession like I do?

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted to authorize Speaker John Boehner to sue President Obama for allegedly overstepping his legal authority with the way he's handled Obamacare. Good call?

Yes. Obama's been overstepping his authority since day one in office. It's time he pay the piper.
No. The allegations are ridiculous and the law suit is a waste of time and tax payer money.
I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of Obama, but the suit seems a little extreme.
