NEW CASTLE —
You’ve seen the runways and you’ve checked out the magazines.
So how do you know what trends are actually wearable for your everyday life?
It’s the dilemma we face each season when a new collection of gorgeous (and largely unattainable) clothes enter our sights. Most of us are not models who stand over 6-feet tall and generally look good in any article of clothing known to man.
So, where do we start?
Summer 2012 is showing us a barrage of gorgeous pastels, beautiful florals, printed pants, and a new silhouette — the peplum. If you’re anything like me, all of these pastels, prints and florals would stand in stark contrast to your largely black, white, gray and solid closet. So this summer has become a time of experimentation.
I’ve bought the pastels (pale yellow denim), I’ve bought the florals (flower-filled tank top), and I’ve bought the peplum top (but kept it in a safe color- black). I’ve yet to become brave enough to wear the printed pants.
These three trends that I’ve jumped into are trends that we can all incorporate into our real-girl, non-model lifestyles. Pastels look pretty when worn head to toe. Or, grab a pastel accessory to match with your bold colors for an interesting contrast.
A pretty peplum, when worn either as a shirt (like mine) or as a skirt, will give you a beautiful shape when paired with a slim alternating piece.
And as for florals? Why not go all out and wear a maxi dress (also a huge trend for spring) covered in beautiful blossoms. Not much makes a girl feel more feminine than being covered in flowers.
So go ahead, experiment! Try on something that you would never normally think twice about. After all, with a new season comes new possibilities. And you just might fall in love with something you never dreamed possible.
