Sarah Stright-Hartley: Spring trends not so bad after all

NEW CASTLE — With each new season comes a crop of trends and each time there are a few that I'm always a little unsure of.

Being a fashion blogger in my spare time, I get the chance to see these trends being worn and styled in ways that I may not have thought of. Oftentimes, it leads me to think "OK, maybe these trends aren't so bad after all.”

To the right are three of these trends for spring: mule shoes, overalls, and crop tops.

Mule shoes — I'll be honest, I've never been a huge fan of these shoes. Because I'm petite they always seem to look (and feel) clunky on me. But with each photo I've shown, I think the girls have figured out a way to make them look both stylish and chic — and very non-clunky. Each photo also proves that these shoes can be worn for work or play.

Overalls — When I mentioned on my blog Facebook page that I almost purchased a pair of these (in the short version), my husband immediately told me he wouldn't be seen in public with me if I were wearing them. So, I guess that answers the question if he likes the style or not. It seems most people are also split on the idea with many choosing to leave them in the years of their early childhood and not to bring them back. But looking at the photos of the way they can be dressed up has me still wondering if I can pull them off in my daily life. With heels and a pretty blouse, I tend to think they come into this new age perfectly.

Crop tops — Last week we talked about the different ways you can style crop tops and to the right is picture proof that they can be very classy and chic. This is one trend that I am fully on board with, though I'm not sure it's right for me. I love the look, especially when it's dressed up with a pencil skirt and just a tiny sliver of skin. I hate to say it, but Kim Kardashian is a great example lately of how to wear this trend by just showing a glimpse of belly.

So what are your thoughts on these trends? Will you be wearing any this spring?

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted to authorize Speaker John Boehner to sue President Obama for allegedly overstepping his legal authority with the way he's handled Obamacare. Good call?

Yes. Obama's been overstepping his authority since day one in office. It's time he pay the piper.
No. The allegations are ridiculous and the law suit is a waste of time and tax payer money.
I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of Obama, but the suit seems a little extreme.
