Galbreath, Court inducted into Pittsburgh Basketball Hall of Fame

NEW CASTLE — Ron Galbreath and Tony Court have been inducted into the Pittsburgh Basketball Hall of Fame.

Galbreath is a former successful basketball coach of the Westminster College and Clarion University men. He retired as coach of the Geneva College women’s team in 2009 with an overall career coaching record of 634-192.

Court was honored for his excellence in officiating high school and collegiate basketball. Court, the mayor of Ellwood City, was a first-time ballot inductee, according to John Giammarco, the director of the Pittsburgh Basketball Club. His selection was based on his professionalism, integrity and talent.

Other members of the Coaches Division to be honored were Tim Grgurich (Pitt), Hank Kuzma (Midland High), Ed Olkowski (Midland), Harry Jenkins, (Fox Chapel), Bernie Matthews (St. Vincent College) and Matt Furjanic (Polk County Community College/Robert Morris University).

The Contributors Division honorees were Jack Fullen (athletic director, Blackhawk High), Paul Holzshu (athletic director, Shaler High/Metro Basketball Index), Bill Moore (former athletic director, Moon High), Ellis Cannon (Pittsburgh Sports Report), Kevin Gorman (Pittsburgh Tribune Review) and Paul Skirtich (basketball official).
