Fall Sports: A roundup of action from Sept. 11

NEW CASTLE — Sydne Slingluff delivered a big performance last night for the Neshannock High girls soccer team.

Slingluff scored four goals to lift the Lady Lancers to a 5-1 WPIAL Section 1-A home win over Freedom.

Meg McCarthy added the other goal for Neshannock (3-0 section, 4-0-1 overall), which was the first of the game. Slingluff scored the first of her four goals just with just three minutes to go in the opening half for a 2-0 lead. She added the other three tallies in the second half.

Annie Litrenta chipped in with three assists for the winners and Madison McHale made three saves in goal to earn the win.

Collin Duffy fired a 43 to lift Wilmington to a 190-201 nonregion win over Summit Academy on the front nine at Tanglewood.
