  • NBA Finals: Ginobili sparks Spurs to victory

    With the old Manu Ginobili back, the San Antonio Spurs looked like champs again. One more victory and their Big Three, not Miami’s, will be the one that rules the NBA. Ginobili broke out of a slump in a big way with 24 points and 10 assists in his first start of the season, and the Spurs beat the Heat 114-104 last night to take a 3-2 lead.

    The Neshannock High softball team came up short in its bid for history yesterday. The Lady Lancers were gunning for consecutive PIAA crowns in different classifications, which would have been a first across the state. They would have become the first softball team in the WPIAL to win back-to-back state championships as well.

Florida State second baseman John Sansone had just completed his exit interviews with coaches following the previous day’s loss to Indiana, the Cinderella team that eliminated the vaunted Seminoles — on their home turf, no less — from an NCAA Super Regional.

    Pack your bags, the Neshannock High softball team is heading for the state championship — again. The Lady Lancers clinched their second championship game appearance in as many seasons, getting plays when they needed them in a PIAA Class A semifinal-round triumph over Southern Huntingdon, 4-1.
