NEW CASTLE —
Shane Eichenlaub was strong yesterday for the Mohawk High golf team.
Eichenlaub posted a 37 to lead the Warriors to a 205-237 nonsection victory over South Side Beaver at Mohawk Trails Golf Course.
Michael Anthony followed with a 39 for Mohawk (3-1), while Phil Fava notched a 41. Ryan Penwell and Kevin Martin both scored a 44 for the victors.
Wilmington places fifth in mega-match
The Greyhounds carded a team total of 348 to place fifth in a District 10, Region 2-AA 18-hole mega-match at Oak Tree Country Club.
Slippery Rock won the event with a 312 and Grove City was second with a 343. Hickory took third with a 347 and West Middlesex tied with Wilmington 348. The Big Reds won the tiebreaker and Sharon was last with a 354.
Eric Elliott scored a 77 to lead the Greyhounds, while Matt Nystrom added an 86. Chris Phillips contributed a 92 and Davis Smith added a 93.
Ryan Prokay was the medalist for the match with a 68 for Grove City.

Neshannock wins
Neshannock slipped past Beaver Falls in a Section 2-AA matchup, 3-2.
Stephanie Bucci (No. 1) and Amber Wacikowski (No. 2) earned singles wins for the Lady Lancers (2-1, 2-1), while the doubles tandem of Gabby Giangiuli/Maria Acosta won at No. 2 doubles.
