NEW CASTLE —
Rachel Iorio delivered in the clutch yesterday for the Neshannock High girls soccer team.
Iorio scored the tiebreaking goal in the second half, lifting the Lady Lancers to a 4-2 WPIAL Section 1-A road win over New Brighton.
Annie Litrenta scored two goals for Neshannock (2-0 section, 3-0-1 overall), including the final one for insurance.
Sydne Slingluff posted the Lady Lancers’ first goal.
Jenna Herman posted an assist for the Lady Lancers.
Madison McHale recorded six saves to earn the win.
Lady ’Hounds top Union
Wilmington knocked off Union in a nonsection match, 25-7, 25-13, 25-14.
Cassidy Marett paced the Lady Greyhounds (2-0) with 14 points and 22 assists, while Katherine Clark collected nine points and three aces.
Jamie Thompson tallied eight points and three aces for the winners and Tessa Sikora supplied seven points, 15 kills and three blocks. Stephanie Parker provided four points and six kills, while Madeline Whiting chipped in with four points and four kills.
Tyanna Harris notched six assists for the host Lady Scots (1-3).
The Lady Greyhounds won the JV match, 26-24, 20-25, 15-9.
Amanda Lewis and Julia Strobel had 12 points apiece. Lewis slammed six kills as well. Alana Romeo recorded nine points and 15 assists for Wilmington.
Rachel Vernon spiked six kills for the winners and Jessica Schlumberger added three.
Chris Egbert fired a 35 to lift Neshannock to a 200-226 nonsection win over Grove City on the front nine at Castle Hills.
Mike Rozzi was next with a 37 for the Lancers (6-3) and Marissa Kirkwood carded a 39. Mark Moses shot a 44 and Carmen Oliva supplied a 45.
