High School Basketball: Meet the Section 2-AAA girls all-stars

NEW CASTLE — Blackhawk’s girls basketball cruised through WPIAL Class 2-AAA.

The Lady Cougars (27-2 overall) completed their section schedule unbeaten (12-0). However, their quest for WPIAL and PIAA gold fell short.

Nevertheless, Chassidy Omogrosso helped lead the way for Blackhawk. The sophomore earned all-section first-team honors. Hopewell’s Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, Ambridge’s Katie Fischer and Central Valley’s Madi Rowan and Seairra Barrett joined her on the first team.

No New Castle or Ellwood City Lincoln players earned first-team honors.

The Lady ’Canes (8-14) finished fifth in the section at 4-8. Kelsey Scott was the team’s top scorer at 13.2 points per game. The Lady Wolverines (9-13) were right behind New Castle in the section standings (2-10). Asia Borders led the team in scoring at 11.9 points per game.
