Fall Sports: A roundup of action from October 7

NEW CASTLE — The Wilmington High girls tennis team closed the season on a positive note yesterday.

The Lady Greyhounds slipped past host Grove City in a District 10, Region 1-AA road match, 3-2. It was the final match of the season for Wilmington.

Alanna Elliott (No. 1) and Nikki McCown (No. 3) earned singles wins for the Lady Greyhounds (9-5 region, 9-5 overall). The doubles tandem of Taylor Cox/Allyson Krupa (No. 2) notched a victory as well.

“I can’t say that I’m too disappointed with the season,” Wilmington coach Jim Arrow said. “The girls worked hard.
