Fall Sports: A roundup of action from October 7

NEW CASTLE — The Wilmington High girls tennis team closed the season on a positive note yesterday.

The Lady Greyhounds slipped past host Grove City in a District 10, Region 1-AA road match, 3-2. It was the final match of the season for Wilmington.

Alanna Elliott (No. 1) and Nikki McCown (No. 3) earned singles wins for the Lady Greyhounds (9-5 region, 9-5 overall). The doubles tandem of Taylor Cox/Allyson Krupa (No. 2) notched a victory as well.

“I can’t say that I’m too disappointed with the season,” Wilmington coach Jim Arrow said. “The girls worked hard.

“All in all, I’m pleased with the season. There was progress made, and as long as you’re making progress, that’s what counts.”

“Alanna had a great season for us and she played pretty well each match,” Arrow said.
