HERMITAGE — Girls soccer

Lady Lancers cruise

Sydne Slingluff scored twice and assisted on another goal to lead Neshannock to an easy 7-0 home WPIAL Section 1-A win over South Side Beaver.

Slingluff’s first goal came off a penalty kick five minutes into the game and she later scored in the second half for the Lady Lancers (7-2-2, 8-2-3). Annie Litrenta, Kelly Cournan, Rachel Iorio and Caitlin Trotta posted the other Neshannock goals in the first half, while Jenna Herman scored in the second half.

Carly Edman, Chandler Moorhouse and Lauren Hardt were credited with assists.

Madison McHale turned away two shots in goal for the Lady Lancers.


Laurel wins marathon

Mackenzie Mraz posted a triple-double to hand the host Lady Spartans a hard-fought 26-24, 19-25, 25-21, 16-25, 17-15 victory over Section 1-A rival Beaver County Christian.

Mraz finished the night with 15 kills, 12 digs, 11 points and three aces, while Morgan Ritchie tallied 33 assists and eight digs for Laurel (5-3, 8-5).

Ellen Schaffer slammed 11 kills and Callie Ritchie recorded seven points and five kills.

The Lady Spartans also copped a 25-14, 25-22 win in JV action.

Kristan Fedrizzi led the way with 14 points and five aces, while Paige Covelli added seven points and three kills. Shelby Miles had nine kills.

Lady ’Cats roll

Christina Rapone handed out 21 assists as Shenango remained undefeated in Section 1-A play with a 25-6, 25-11, 25-14 over visiting Aliquippa.

Jade Esposito tallied 11 aces and nine digs for the Lady Wildcats (9-0, 11-1), while Nicole Watkins tacked on six kills.

Valentina Vincent posted five aces as Shenango won the JV match 25-10, 25-7.

Brooke Tanner finished with four kills and Sarah Herb added 13 assists. Shelby McCart was credited with four digs.

Lady Scotties win

Christina Noble drilled seven kills and added four aces to lead Union to a 25-9, 25-19 25-12 home win over Western Beaver.

Tyanna Harris handed out 12 assists and posted three aces for the Lady Scotties (4-5, 5-7), while Skylar Thompson had five kills and Dacia Neely tallied 5 digs.

Union also won the JV contest 25-14, 25-11.
