NEW CASTLE —
Calvin Gealy and Kate Robb delivered for the Wilmington High cross country teams yesterday.
Gealy won the boys race and Robb captured the girls race as the teams earned a District 10 sweep of Sharon. The boys claimed a 22-34 victory and the girls rolled to a 16-42 decision.
Gealy captured the boys race in 18:58 and teammate Jared Masters was second in 19:27. Brett Whitty was fourth in 20:05 and Ryan Davis took sixth in 21:23. Derek Craig (9th, 22:10) and Stefan Pontius (10th, 22:11 also participated for the Greyhounds.
On the girls side, Robb won the race in 22:16 and teammate Allison Baldwin was second in 22:45. The Lady Greyhounds’ Rikki Brumbaugh was third in 22:47 and Hannah Winters followed in fourth in 23:56.
Lexi Brumbaugh (6th, 24:18) and Hannah Drake (8th, 26:14) also ran for the Lady Greyhounds.
Wilmington also won both junior high meets. The Lady Greyhounds’ Mei Williams won the girls race in 13:02. The Greyhounds’ Nathan Twigg won the boys race in 11:54.
Mohawk cruised to a 25-17, 25-11, 25-10 WPIAL Section 1-AA road win over New Castle.
Maria Fleck slammed 10 kills for the Lady Warriors (1-2 section, 2-2 overall) and Malea Tress was next with 13 assists.
Samantha Carr collected four kills and six digs for the winners and Ashley McConnell posted four kills. Marie Anderson served up three aces.
Mohawk won the JV match as well, 25-11, 25-10.
Makenzie McConnell had five aces and Haley Pelini notched seven kills.
Lady Scots win
Christina Bertolino helped Union secure a 19-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-8 Section 3-A road win over Western Beaver.
Bertolino served up 16 straight points to open the fourth and deciding game for the Lady Scots.
Tyanna Harris contributed 16 assists for Union and Christina Noble was next with 11 kills. Morgan Miller followed with five kills and six aces.
Union won the JV match, 25-17, 25-13.
Ellwood City Lincoln dropped a 25-15, 25-14, 27-25 Section 1-AA home decision to Beaver.
Bailey McKinney paced the Lady Wolverines (0-2, 1-2) with four aces, three blocks and three kills. Emily Brown contributed eight assists and Susie Blyth scooped up 11 digs.
Ellwood City lost the JV match, 25-18, 25-13.
