High School Softball: Shenango loses second straight in Florida

NEW CASTLE — The Shenango High softball team dropped its second straight game to start the season.

The Lady Wildcats surrendered a seventh-inning tally to Libertyville (Ill.) in a 3-2 defeat at the KSA Tournament in Orlando, Fla.

Shenango picked up both of its runs in the second inning to tie the score at 2-2. Shelby McCart went 2 for 3, slapping two of the team’s four hits and recording a run.

It was the second defeat at the KSA Tournament for the Lady Wildcats, having lost their first game to Elk Lake (Pa.) by a final of 8-7.

Jenna DeLuca knocked home three and hit her first home run of the season in the opener. Kim Burdett was 2 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Macy Rubin pitched the distance, going seven innings and allowing eight runs, only two of which were earned.
