Hiram’s Shawn DeJohn had a breakout game on Wednesday.
DeJohn recorded 16 points and five rebounds in a 97-93 double-overtime win over Grove City College.
A sophomore from Shenango High, DeJohn was 5 of 10 from the floor in 21 minutes.
In a 74-71 win over Oberlin (Ohio) College last Saturday, DeJohn posted three points in nine minutes.
DeJohn is averaging 4.8 points a game and 1.2 rebounds a tilt.
The Terriers are 2-4.

SHOOTING BLANKS
Waynesburg College’s Jeff Nero was held scoreless in 19 minutes in an 89-82 win over Grove City College last Saturday in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference matchup. Nero did have three rebounds.
Nero, a senior forward from Union, is averaging 14 points a game and 4.3 rebounds a contest.
The Yellow Jackets are 4-2.
LIGHTING IT UP
California’s Theron Colao scored eight points in 16 minutes of action in the Vulcans’ 88-65 win over Wheeling Jesuit last Saturday.
Colao, a junior guard from Ellwood City Lincoln, is averaging 6.5 points a game with 1.8 rebounds a tilt as well. Colao has also handed out nine assists.
He’s a transfer from Community College of Beaver County.
California is 5-1.
CARR SHOW
Grove City’s Shawn Carr registered 16 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals in a 97-93 double-overtime loss to Hiram (Ohio) College on Wednesday.
Carr was 4 of 11 from the field.
Carr, a junior guard from Mohawk, is averaging 8.4 points and 5.6 rebounds a contest. He has also dished out 18 assists.
Bobby Turner, a junior from Laurel, is also seeing limited action for the Wolverines. He has played in three games, averaging 1.3 points and 1.7 rebounds a contest.
Grove City is 3-5.
PLAYING TIME
Geneva’s Richard Colick scored six points in an 84-70 loss to Malone (Ohio) College last Saturday.
Colick, a freshman guard/forward from Mohawk, is averaging 2.5 points and 2.5 rebounds a tilt.
The Golden Tornadoes are 6-5.
LOCALS COMPETE
Craig Hannon, Dom Joseph, David Richards and Mike Kobal are competing for Westminster.
Hannon, a junior guard from Union, is averaging 15.1 points and 2.9 rebounds a game.
Joseph, a senior guard/forward from New Castle, is tallying 13.3 markers and 4.3 rebounds a contest.
Richards, a sophomore guard from New Castle, is averaging three points a game and he has handed out 21 assists as well.
Kobal, a sophomore forward from Neshannock, has played in three games and is averaging one point and one rebound.
The Titans are 4-4.

Westminster’s Nicole Fee is seeing action for the Lady Titans.
Fee, a junior guard from Neshannock, is averaging 5.1 points and 2.3 rebounds a game.
Westminster is 5-3.
SEEING ACTION
Grove City’s Katy McCready is seeing limited action for the Lady Wolverines.
McCready, a sophomore guard from Mohawk, is averaging one point a game.
The Lady Wolverines are 2-7.
Football
CHAMPIONSHIP BOUND
Mount Union’s Matt Barge saw action off the bench but didn’t record any statistics last Saturday in a 26-14 win over St. John Fisher (N.Y.) in the semifinals of the NCAA Division III playoffs.
Barge, a sophomore running back from Neshannock, ranks third on the team with 415 yards rushing on 60 carries.
The Purple Raiders (14-0), the defending NCAA Division III national champions, will take on Wisconsin-Whitewater at 4 p.m. tomorrow in the Division III national championship game — the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl. Mount Union is the top-ranked team in Division III. The Purple Raiders defeated Wisconsin-Whitewater for the championship last year, 35-28.
INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
THROW IT
California University of Pennsylvania’s Anthony Freer finished third last Saturday in the weight throw at the Kent State Golden Flash Gala.
Freer, a sophomore from Union, recorded an effort of 44-7.
