FALL SPORTS ROUNDUP: Union golf team defeats Neshannock

Brad Palmer and Anthony Vitullo each carded a 38 to help the Union High golf team knock off Neshannock yesterday.
The Scotties captured a 201-209 WPIAL Section 5, Division 2 victory at Rolling Hills Golf Course.
“Those are our five and six men coming in with a 38 to help seal the victory,” Union coach Don Bromley said.
Union improves to 3-3 in section play and 4-5 overall. The Lancers (5-1, 6-1) drop their first match of the season.
“This is the first time in who knows when we beat Neshannock?” Bromley said. “All I know it’s been a long time.”
Nick DeCesare and Steve Diaz each shot a 41 for Union. Mike Rossi shot a 43 and Jack DeCesare chipped in with a 44.
Jono Acosta paced Neshannock with a 38 and Nikko Giangiuli followed with a 40. Matt Smith shot a 42 and Frank Quattro scored a 44. Alex Strittmatter added a 46.
Warriors win
Shane Eichenlaub shot a 36 to lead Mohawk to a 197-229 win over Shenango in a Section 5, Division 2 match at Mohawk Trails.
Michael Pope chipped in a 37 for the Warriors (2-4, 2-4), while Ryan Penwell and Zach Beatty each shot a 41. Jordan Shore carded a 42.
Vince Esposito paced the Wildcats with a 38. He recorded an eagle on the first hole. Tyler Burkes was next with a 45 and Brad Thornton notched a 48. Torrey Burkes and Zach Merkel both fired a 49.
’Canes fall
New Castle lost a Section 3, Division 1 match against Seneca Valley at Cranberry Highlands.
