University of Louisville baseball standout Brandon Whiting put his name in the record book on Sunday.

Whiting, a redshirt senior and center fielder from Wilmington High, stole his 31st base of the season in a 10-3 win over Villanova in a non-conference matchup. With the steal, Whiting surpassed Curtis Watson’s single-season record of 30 set in 1985.

Whiting is batting .413 with eight RBIs and 28 runs scored. His 31 stolen bases lead the nation.

The Cardinals are 16-8.
