NAMES IN THE GAMES: Catching up with local athletes competing in college

Not an even an injury could keep Grove City women’s basketball player Katy McCready on the sidelines for long.
McCready returned from an ankle injury recently and is faring well for the Lady Wolverines.
On Wednesday, McCready recorded two points off the bench in a 71-50 loss at Westminster College in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference matchup.
McCready tallied six points in a 72-70 win over St. Vincent.
A sophomore guard from Mohawk High, McCready is averaging 1.6 points a game in 11 games.
The Lady Wolverines are 4-11.

FEE CONTRIBUTES
Westminster’s Nicole Fee is seeing action for the Lady Titans.
Fee, a senior guard from Neshannock, is averaging 4.9 points and 1.9 rebounds a game.
Westminster is 11-4.

COUNT IT
California’s Theron Colao scored five points with two rebounds in an 83-76 win over Kutztown on Sunday.
Colao, a junior guard from Ellwood City Lincoln, Colao is averaging 7.3 points a game with two rebounds a tilt as well. Colao has also handed out 19 assists.
California is 12-3.

ON THE FLOOR
Hiram’s Shawn DeJohn is playing well early on for the Terriers.
A sophomore from Shenango, DeJohn is averaging 3.9 points a game and 1.1 rebounds a tilt.
The Terriers are 4-11.

PLAYING WELL
Waynesburg College’s Jeff Nero notched six points, four steals and three rebounds in a 102-80 loss to Bethany in a PAC tilt.
Nero posted nine points and seven rebounds in a 77-54 loss to Hood (Md.) College on Monday.
Nero, a senior forward from Union, is averaging 12 points a game and 5.6 rebounds a contest.
The Yellow Jackets are 7-7.

CARR SHOW
Grove City’s Shawn Carr registered 15 points and seven rebounds in a 101-91 win over Westminster on Wednesday in a PAC fray.
Carr, a junior guard from Mohawk, is averaging 9.1 points and 5.6 rebounds a contest. He has also dished out 33 assists.
Bobby Turner, a junior from Laurel, is also seeing limited action for the Wolverines. He has played in six games, averaging 3.5 points and 1.9 rebounds a contest. Turner had four points in the win over Westminster.
Grove City is 8-8.

IN THE GAME
Geneva’s Richard Colick is seeing limited action for the Golden Tornadoes.
Colick, a freshman guard/forward from Mohawk, is averaging 2.7 points and two rebounds a tilt.
The Golden Tornadoes are 8-10.

LOCALS COMPETE
Craig Hannon, Dom Joseph, David Richards and Mike Kobal are competing for Westminster.
Hannon, a junior guard from Union, is averaging 13.5 points and 3.1 rebounds a game.
Joseph, a senior guard/forward from New Castle, is tallying 12.7 markers and 5.1 rebounds a contest.
Richards, a sophomore guard from New Castle, is averaging 3.6 points a game and he has handed out 46 assists as well.
Kobal, a sophomore forward from Neshannock, has played in six games and is averaging just under one point and one rebound.
The Titans are 10-6.
